okay, maybe they're not so boring, but here goes.
1. pink is a perfect color. no, it really is. i love it. if i could, i'd wear it everyday.
2. green is just as perfect. especially because there are so many shades of it.
3. no, i am not a member of the alpha kappa alpha sorority, inc. i just really like pink and green. probably before this sorority was even created (since i am over 100 years old, duh).
4. politics and sarcasm go hand in hand. there is a certain amount of logic and reasoning one must possess to be politically sound, and the same amount is required to be sarcastically sound (i made this up, check the copyrights).
5. i'm an inconsistent blogger. i think i put so much effort into starting it, that when it's time to fill it with new content, i have to wait until i feel moved enough to do it. i guess that's why i'm doing this 100 boring things thingy.
6. i love food. i like making up dishes. i mean, i'm sure someone's made these dishes before me, but i don't know them, and so therefore, i'm the creator.
7. since this is 100 boring things about me, i won't mention the fact that i have the most wonderful boyfriend, jesse, ever again on this post.
8. did i mention he's awesome?
9. okay i'm done. i have 91 more things to list. *clears throat* ready?
10. i am the oldest child of 2. <--i hate this phrasing because there are only 2 roles in a household of 2 children: oldest and youngest. so yes, i am the oldest.
11. i have a younger sister, chelsea, who rocks. we are 7 years apart. we had the same due date originally, but i was 4 days early and she was a week late. that's how i know she rocks.
12. i am originally from nowhere. it is a very boring place. it could've been the topic of this list and i would've been spot on.
13. i lived nowhere from age 4/5 until i left for college at age 18, and then my mom finally moved somewhere else the year i turned 21. at least there are no cows here.
14. i went to vcu for undergrad and majored in political science, minored in english, spanish, and african american studies. i thought this would be awesome because all or most of the courses cross-referenced. but now as i look into masters programs, i will probably be concentrating on criminal justice or public administration.
15. so i didn't need all those minors in the first place. i picked them up because i wanted a 2-for-1 special, so to speak.
16. whatevs. and i'm still not *that* fluent in spanish. at least not the speaking part.
17. i lived in spain for a few months in the fall of 2007 to study abroad. it was beautiful.
18. more specifically i stayed in sevilla, which is the capital of andalucia. i visited a few smaller cities (caceres, trujillo, cadiz, marbella, ronda, malaga, rota, el puerto de santa maria, a few others) in southern spain, as well as seeing madrid.
19. i desperately want to go back to spain. i even considered teaching english abroad.
20. then i saw that there's a $2,000 application and placement fee. so basically i'm paying in order to work? seems backwards, so no.
21. i secretly think everyone should do things i think are cool, like this list, and the 52in52.
22. i guess it's not much of a secret anymore. *shrugs*
23. i am somewhat of a klutz. walking is something we've all been doing for many years now, so i don't really pay attention to where i'm walking, and sometimes, i fall.
24. i fell recently. down 2 concrete stairs. and while i sat there, on the sidewalk, i said to myself self, this is ridiculous. who falls down stairs? and it took me a while to gather myself to get up at that point.
25. i don't embarass easily. the whole falling down thing was more ridiculous to me than anything else.
26. from that fall, i have learned that i have a bone cyst (see my post about my knee for details) and a possible torn miniscus. being a klutz is so satisfying. falling felt so good.
27. i don't have any kids, although i would like to have my first one within the next 2-3 years.
28. the older i get, the more patience i gain in certain areas, just not with foolishness. my tolerance for foolishness actually decreases per day.
29. that being said, i think my kids would toggle between extremely sarcastic and extremely silly, with a tendency to act crazy at times. i'm pretty sure i would be crazy about them, too.
30. everyone seems to think i will have twins. you can bet, i will have my tubes tied immediately after childbirth if this happens.
31. i have a lot of goals, and a lot of talents. so many random ones that i can't possible join them together, coherently. so ideally, it'd probably be best if i was a consultant.
32. that way, if someone needs a service, i can decide whether i can (or will) do it myself, or find someone to do it and charge a finder's fee. surefire way for me to always do what i like doing, and always get paid.
33. well, it sounds good anyway.
34. everyone should have a sensor that tells them when to shut up, when to omit, when to condense. people without this sensor, kinda blow me.
35. every piece of information is not equally as important as the other. i'd rather be told, only, that 1+1=2, than to be told that, and also that unless you subtract, then it would be 0. or if you multiply, it will be 1, or if you divide it will be 1. but if you only add, it will be 2. <--all of that at the end, can be omitted.
36. my mom is the most innately funny person i know. not because of what she says, but how she reacts and what she does.
37. she is quick to run somewhere when she isn't sure what she should do. this usually results in fatigue or an injury, which is also funny to me.
38. i am enamored of the peanuts. i have pictures of them all over my desk at work, a disco dj charlie brown paperweight, and a canteen.
39. i could eat salad, soup and a sandwich everyday. i wish panera had a drive thru. sheesh.
40. now i will take this time to tell you about my childhood (this should take up the next 60...i hope).
41. i moved around a lot until i was about 10, then i didn't move again until college.
42. this place has GOT to be the most boring place in life. even worst than nowhere. unfortunately, it is where i was born.
43. we stayed there until i was 3, then my mom and i moved to baltimore. we lived on the west side, then the east side, then we moved to that boring place i mentioned earlier.
44. i almost got to skip 1st grade, but my mom wanted me around kids my age (i was already one of the youngest in the class since i have a summer birthday).
45. instead, i went to a magnet program elementary school. in 1st grade we learned cursive, multiplication/division, and story writing. it was awesome.
46. by the 4th grade i was doing pre-algebra and reading novels for comprehension. that's when i started to have mood swings, so my mom made me go to a regular public elementary school.
47. this is when my behavior worsened.
48. in 8th grade i got 8 referrals. mostly for chewing gum or talking too much. once for an expired hall pass (whack). twice because a teacher cried--sounds like a personal problem to me.
49. high school was kinda better, but the same thing ended up happening with a different teacher in 9th and 10th grade.
50. i played basketball from age 5 until a few years ago when i was injured.
51. my senior year of high school (i went here) was awesome. we had a great team of 10 seniors and 2 juniors. we were undefeated until the state championship, then we lost :( it sucked, but everyone agrees it was the best year ever. seriously.
52. my injury, plain and simple, was a broken/cracked tailbone. i could barely walk for a couple months. that sucked bad.
53. this is the # of the house i live in with my mom and sister. that's another story.
54. i moved back home from richmond in july 2011. yay.
55. so far, so good. my mom's pretty busy all the time with buying a new house, taking classes for a second degree and being the school support specialist for a middle school. my sister's a college freshman and it's kicking her butt...and it's fun to watch for me.
56. i decided to finally go back to school in the spring. i'm still weighing my options...toggling between stevenson and maryland...whatever gets me done quickest in the field i want is probably the direction i'm headed.
57. i'm still heavily considering being a consultant/placement specialist, since i can do a bunch of things, and people actually need those things done. whatever i can't do, i will outsource and find people who need temp work, then charge a finders fee to the hiring company. so, like a temp agency, only it's just me.
58. i love hair. i love styling and braiding. i don't get scissor happy because i don't like people to be touched because of a too short cut. i'd rather cut and ask "is this length okay?" and they say, "cut about 1/2 inch more" than to cut too much and they have to cope with it, or i have to reassure them that it'll grow back.
59. i really despise wearing underwear, for any reason, but i have over 100 pair. smh.
60. i don't really see a point in wearing them. they don't do anything but restrict you.
61. but they are soooo pretty. catch 22.
62. i'm very excited to get married and have a nice wedding. doesn't have to be huge or extravagant, and i really don't care who's there, as long as jesse is the groom.
63. i said i wasn't gonna talk about him, i tried, and i did a good job. i didn't mention him for 50 things. that is awesome.
64. i've never been to a real concert. which is pretty pathetic for a singer.
65. yes, i'm a singer. i've sang backup for a few known artists and have had offers from others, but it's not a full time gig for me...
66. yet.
67. it'd be cool to sing a whole lot of back up and eventually debut as a solo artist. as long as the artists i sing for are legit, i could see this happening.
68. do you see what i mean about wanting to do everything and needing to be a consultant? do you see?
69. i'm allergic to apples, peaches, pears, plums, cherries, walnuts, kiwi, some melons (not watermelon, thank goodness), and cashews. so pretty much everything.
70. also excessive talking. i mentioned that before, though. but just for emphasis, i
71. my mom and i are extremely close, although we butted heads a lot when i was younger. i hope my daughter and i are as close as my mom and i are.
72. so by now, maybe you've noticed that i don't talk about my father much. i don't have too much to say on that topic, honestly. i wish i did.
73. my father spent over 20 years in prison, from the time i was 5 months old until i was almost 23.
74. when a person spends that much time incarcerated, their life goes on hold. so from age 30 to age 53, he was in pause mode. meaning, he got out and acted about 16.
75. still too fresh, i can't say i'm ever in a great mood talking about him. so let's talk about something else.
76. i had a brindle pit bull puppy. i named him maestro and he was AWESOME. he was hit by a car and had to be put down. i miss him, but he was such a good puppy and deserved to not suffer.
77. i always wanted a little brother. i actually wasn't too impressed when my mom had my sister.
78. over the years we've gotten much closer and she's my ace. i wouldn't trade her for a little brother.....anymore.
79. i worked for a very large bank for about 3 years. i started to hate that bank very quickly when a lot of policies changed and no training was given.
80. i don't know if i'll ever go back to the financial field...it's not a passion of mine. i'm more people oriented, as far as wanting to help others. customer service is fine, but it doesn't pay well enough. that's why i said i could be a consultant.
81. i'm not overly friendly, but i don't have any known enemies. i'm sure there are people who don't like me, but that doesn't bother me.
82. typically if someone doesn't like me, it's because they don't know me well. i get along with everyone...
83. ...until someone crosses me.
84. then it's a problem.
85. i have never been on a cruise, but i am scheduled to go on one in july 2012. i will let you know how that goes.
86. this is the year i was born. clearly it was an awesome year for everyone involved.
87. and this is the year my alleged half brother was born (alleged because there is no resemblance or DNA proof). remember when i said i don't have a whole lot of great, amazing things to say about my father? yeah, this is one of those not so great things.
88. but i digress...i have an amazing set of grandparents. i miss my grandmother a lot sometimes and i wish we'd had a chance to be closer than we were. she passed in july 2007, about a week before my 21st birthday.
89. my grandfather loves cars, gardening, and fishing. he's too cool, and one of the funniest people i know. i miss him; he's retired and lives in florida.
90. 10 more things...hmm.
91. i toggle between tomboy and girly-girl. i love dresses, heels, the spa...but i love sports, sweats, and beer, lol.
92. if i was sure i wouldn't die, i would probably only eat baked macaroni and cheese and chicken parm. everyday. oh, and drink lemonade. definitely lemonade.
93. i'm convinced i have a fat girl living inside me.
94. i like to sketch stuff...anything from dresses to letters to stick figures.
95. i've been writing poetry for a while now, but i can't always write it when i want to write. i have to be completely blank (wine is welcome) and not bothered by anyone. after i'm done, i'm usually tired, as if i worked all day. weird.
96. if i blogged everyday, some of you would get tired of me. will that stop me? probably not. although, i probably won't blog everyday.
97. i used to play the piano. i stopped because the lady who gave me lessons had me learn the whole note for almost 4 years. i decided that was enough of the whole note.
98. i played drums for a while, too. i got pretty good, but then i met some other drummers and decided maybe this isn't for me. so i sing now.
99. i love singing. i love music and everything about it. i even rock at air guitar.
100. if you've gotten this far, you are awesome. you've also won the grand prize: knowing 100 boring things about me.
